Back in August, we headed to Camden to meet Sophie Parker-Jeal and finalise plans for her new book. We shared a little sneak preview then. Today, we’re delighted to share the book itself.

OCD in the Raw is out now — the first title in our nonfiction Nuggets collection of Grab Books.

It’s also the beginning of a week of conversations about a condition that is still widely misunderstood.

Sophie’s story, in her own words

In OCD in the Raw, Sophie writes openly about her experience of obsessive-compulsive disorder: intrusive thoughts, anxiety, compulsions and the challenges of recovery.

Her voice is personal, direct and full of character. She makes room for humour alongside difficult experiences, speaking about subjects that people can find frightening or uncomfortable to discuss.

This is a book for people living with OCD, for those who love and support them, and for anyone who wants to understand more. Sophie’s honesty invites readers to look beyond familiar stereotypes and listen to what living with OCD can actually feel like.

Why we’re sharing it this week

Today marks the start of OCD Awareness Week, running from 11–17 October 2026. This international awareness week encourages people to challenge misconceptions, reduce stigma and improve understanding of OCD.

OCD can involve distressing, unwanted thoughts, images or urges, alongside repetitive behaviours or mental rituals that someone feels compelled to carry out. Much of that experience can be invisible to other people.

Listening to those with lived experience helps us recognise what we might otherwise miss. That is why sharing Sophie’s book matters so much to us.

A book that gives something back

£1 from every copy of OCD in the Raw sold will be donated to OCD Action.

Whether you buy a book or donate directly, thank you for supporting this cause.

Join us for a week with Sophie

Throughout OCD Awareness Week, we’ll be sharing clips from our conversations with Sophie, filmed during our Camden meet-up in August as we planned the publication.

You’ll hear from the author herself as we share chats about the book and the experiences behind it, alongside details of how to buy, donate and get involved.

Follow Creative Hats Press on social media, keep an ear out for Sophie’s conversations, and share the posts with someone who might find them useful.

A book, a conversation or a shared post can be someone’s first step towards understanding. Thank you for helping us get Sophie’s words out into the world.
